Ok, it is true, I do enjoy a good collectable. However, I’ve never worked so hard to get these BTS designed toys from, of all places, McDonald’s. At first, I was only going to try to get RM’s Koya, but they were all so darn cute, and you can’t just select the one you want. So…long story short, and with the help of some of my colleagues (Loreen, Taryn and Sara) who purchased Happy Meals in order to share the prizes with me, I was able to get 6 of the 9 toys in the set. I’ll be forever grateful to my non-ARMY friends who helped me out!💜
Of course my favourite BT21 character is the adorable Koala (Koya)[1] who was designed by my bias Kim Namjoon (RM). As long as I got Koya, I knew I would be happy, but I’m glad to have six! The large McDonald’s near me, told me they never received the last three - and while I tried several locations I was not able to obtain ‘Shooky’, ‘Chimmy’ or the spaceship.
There is a funny story about collecting these adorable toys. It was my first time going to McDonald’s in forever, and I thought I would order using the machines (versus going to the till). I picked my meal and paid, and was so excited. I picked up my bag (to go) and couldn’t wait to get home to see which character I got. But, alas, Debb wasn’t as observant as I thought. I was grinning and happy one moment, but when I opened my meal and pulled out the toy, an expletive left my mouth. WTF was that??? That was no BT21 toy - it was something else… it was some character from SpongeBob SquarePants.🦞 I was so disappointed! Yes, go ahead and laugh…even I can laugh now.
One of these things is not like the others!
Note that I plan to share any duplicates with ARMY during future BTS events!
You can learn more about the development of these characters on the BT21 website.
