Da Hong Pao
Another lovely oolong tea from Wuyi Mountains in northern Fujian province, China.
Da Hong Pao
handmade Gong Cha (tea) - rock bone floral fragrance [1]
I wish I remembered where I bought this, but I have purchased so much tea in the past few months and I never wrote this down.
Regardless, I wanted to try it out. My thoughts follow:
Leaves: slightly twisted, dark brown, firm - aroma of the dry leaves had a hint of cocoa
Fragrance (brewed): rock, bone, floral (just as the packaging says)
Liquor: umber, clear - unique mineral flavour, smooth, slightly sweet, prolonged aftertaste
Thoughts: I’m still learning about Chinese teas, but this was definitely a unique flavour profile for me. I hadn’t tasted a similar tea before, and this reminds me that I still have a long way to go.
