Eid al Fitr 2026
Eid al Fitr is expected to fall on March 20th. “As the Islamic calendar is based around the lunar cycle, the Holy month of Ramadan rotates by approximately ten days each year.”[1] Eid is a celebration that comes at the end of Ramadan - and the month of fasting.
I’m writing about this for people in my country or who follow my blog, who may not know about the importance of this time to Muslims.
This is a particularly important festival this year, because we have seen massive wars in the Middle East fighting throughout the holy month of Ramadan.[2] The US and Israel illegally bombed Iran on February 28, 2026 with the intent of assassinating Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This is the second time within a year that Israel bombed Iran during negotiations.[3]
During the ongoing conflict Israel has also heavily bombed Lebanon, resulting in more than 800,000 people having to evacuate - all during Ramadan. [4] At the time of my writing this article the death toll is as follows: 1,444 in Iran,[5] 15 in Israel, 13 US soldiers, and 19 in the Gulf States.[6]
It is not my intention in this blog post to discuss all the atrocities being perpetrated by the war criminal Netanyahu [7] and his Zionist regime, or the convicted rapist Donald Trump [9] and his MAGA terrorist regime. But it is important for people to know about the immoral stance being taken by these oppressors during this holy period.
If this is news to you and if you are appalled by what is happening, I encourage you to write your MPs and the Prime Minister (or your government officials if you aren’t from Canada) and tell them you do not want to see Canada (or your country) get involved in this war, or to provide any support to the US and Israel at all.
For all the Muslims reading this, I wish you Eid Mubarak (عيد مبارك), and I hope that peace will come to you and your loved ones, wherever they are.
