A Late Summer Stroll
I went on a short walk through Fish Creek Provincial Park.🐟
Calgary has many lovely parks - Nose Hill in the NW and Fish Creek in the SE are two of my favourites. A late August stroll through the west end of the park isn’t too strenuous but still provides beautiful views and some wildlife.
My friend Alex and I decided to take a short walk through the park. This followed a hearty lunch at Raj Palace which was absolutely delicious, but very filling.[1] A walk was definitely in order.
We walked leisurely for just over an hour and completed the loop at Marshall Springs. There are a variety of path types: hard cement, wide gravel paths and other smaller trails that lead through the woods. This allows access for a variety of people and recreations.
It is great to get outside and breathe the fresh air, watch the ducks and grasshoppers, and feel the summer sunshine while it is still here.
Feel free to share with me your favourite place in Fish Creek Provincial Park, or some other local park wherever you are…
Autumn is coming!
P.S. Three of my staff (Sara, Cameron and Ruiping) recently joined the Fish Inventory Survey in Fish Creek Provincial Park. You can see their write-up on the AWA website here: The Elusive Fish of Fish Creek Provincial Park
[1] I had the goat vindaloo, saffron rice, chai and the coconut naan. This place on Bannister Road SE has the best Indian food I’ve had in Calgary. Yes, I forgot to take pictures, perhaps next time!
