Top Blog Posts of 2025

I definitely expanded my writing journey this year to include several biographical pieces, and also a series of posts of my What’s Your 60? challenge of writing 60 haikus. I also planned out and shared many of my experiences from my vacation to Greece and Egypt.

I’m often surprised by what content other people engage with, but not this year. The winning post for 2025 highlights the inimitable Rexine Hummel.

Canadian Egyptologist - Rexine Hummel - Part I: The Beginning

This was the share on Facebook back in January. The blog post was viewed more than 170 times this year. This post was the first part of an 8-part series about Rexine’s career in Egypt.

The second most popular article this year, was one that I actually posted in December 2024, Northern Vietnam culinary adventure. 🍚🥢Feel free to check it out.

Geography - in 2024 the top three regions viewing my work were Canada, USA and Germany, and Egypt placed 8th. This year (2025) Canada and US topped visits again, but China came 3rd (and not a single visit in the previous year), and Egyptians viewing my site rose to 6th place. It is always interesting to look at the analytics.

FYI my top FLICKR image this year was this shot of a newborn pony in southern Alberta.

Writing has given me an outlet outside of work this year - and I’m grateful for that. It is New Year’s Eve and I find myself reviewing the challenges I’ve come up against this year - government, corruption, bureaucracy, financial and health issues - but it makes me all the more grateful for the amazing people in my life. Thanks for another year!

I hope you will continue to read and engage with my writing. I have enjoyed doing the research and sharing my thoughts.

Wishing you all an incredible New Year, with wonderful new beginnings! 🌱
