Dear Prime Minister,
On March 3, 2026 I sent the following (very restrained) letter to Prime Minister Carney.
“Sir, I am a Canadian veteran. I honourably served my country for 11 years. I do not support legitimizing the illegal war being conducted by a rapist (Trump) and an international war criminal (Netanyahu) on Iran. Saying we support the US implies legitimizing this war. Taking out the Supreme Leader of a sovereign nation (Iran) that had issued two fatwas against nuclear weapons, on the pretext of preventing them from developing nuclear weapons is not based on any evidence. With all due respect, if you are going to speak hastily on foreign affairs and military strategy in the Middle East, I suggest you learn more about the region. I suggest you stick to economic development which is your forte. I am ashamed that people in the world now think all Canadians support Trump. I ask you to retract your statement of support for the US, keep our troops out of this heinous war and make a statement and apology to the Iranian people for the death of those 160 young girls. You could apologize for supporting the genocide in Palestine too. I fully supported you until now, but I am deeply disappointed. Please do better.”

It should be noted that PM Carney has spoken about the need “to take out Iran’s nuclear and terrorist threats” [1] but has not called out Israel and the USA for their nuclear arsenal. The US is the only country in the world to have used nuclear weapons. Shouldn’t we be sanctioning them to get rid of their nuclear arsenal. They are the last people on the planet that should have them. This is totally hypocritical. Also, what happened to the statement by Trump in June 2025, when they (US & Israel) again attacked Iran, and he said they had destroyed Iran’s nuclear capacity? [2] There is no evidence of Iran having or making nuclear bombs.
How can Carney say that Iran is the most destabilizing country in the Middle East? No country has attacked others more than Israel has.
“In 2025, Israel attacked at least six countries, including Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Qatar, Syria, and Yemen.
It also carried out strikes in Tunisian, Maltese and Greek territorial waters on aid flotillas heading for Gaza.”
Prime Minister Carney, quit with the western media rhetoric. Get your facts straight and represent Canadians correctly. You are shaming us. Even UNESCO is calling the actions of the US and Israel ‘a grave violation of humanitarian law’. [4] The US and Israel have continued strikes targeting “hospitals, schools, the country’s largest stadium and cultural sites across Iran.” [5]
Oh, and STOP SELLING WEAPONS to Israel and the USA - we know how they will be used!
As of the date of posting this I have received no response from the PM. I also wrote separate letters to both my MP, and to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Anita Anand. I have heard nothing from any of them.
Everyone please write your MPs, and let them know that this stance isn’t ok. If Canada gets pulled further into this, Canadians could also be labeled war criminals.
One final reminder to our Canadian military. Thank you for your service. You are my brothers and sisters. Please remember you have the right and obligation to refuse ILLEGAL orders.
