Lei Shan Silver Ball Cha
雷山银球茶 - Léishān yín qiú chá
Again, I wish to reiterate my gratitude to Yang Shengming 杨胜明 who was our guide and companion while we stayed at Jiaoyao Village in Guizhou this past April.
Dry leaf: tightly rolled balls of green and silver foilage
Aroma: green beans, fresh, when steeped a hint of white freesia
Liquor: pale to light golden yelllow
Flavour: sweet, fresh, full-mouth feel, umami, flavour lingers pleasantly
Wet leaf: buds and bud w/ one or two leaves, green (small leaf)
This is a truly amazing green tea. It is sweet, smooth and enjoyable to drink. I got five infusions out of a single ball. We had the opportunity to make our own hand-pressed balls, but mine were not as even or well-formed as the professionals. I haven’t tried the tea I personally made yet.
I really wish I had bought more of this wonderful tea when I was there.
My wonderful traveling guides, Zhen Tea (based in Ottawa), has some of this tea for sale currently, and they do ship.
