Resplendent Alexandria
Alexandria is one of my favourite cities. The salt air, the great food, the walkability…it sighs with the sea.
Although I have been here several times before, I’m never at a loss for something to do. The walk along the harbour being one of my favoured things to do. This trip we visited the Graeco-Roman Museum and the Library of Alexandria. In between those excursions we wandered and ate, and admired the sea views.
Photos below are from my visit in October, 2025, unless otherwise mentioned.

The Rape of Europa
This magnificent statue can be found along the sea walk, opposite the Library of Alexandria. Created by the Egyptian sculptor Fathi Mahmoud in 1962.
The view of the archaeological site of Kom el Dikka, from our hotel.
You can also see the sunrise from the hotel, and hear the call to prayer in a short video on my YouTube channel.
Below is a selection of some of the amazing architecture in Alexandria.
As a former Naval Officer I appreciated this monument the most - Alexandria’s Naval Unknown Soldier Memorial.
No description of Alexandria would be replete without an image of the harbour. The 15th century citadel, Quaitbay is on the left.
Please feel free to ask questions, or leave (polite) comments below. Thanks for walking these city streets with me.
