Menghai White Tea/Báichá

Tasting of the Báichá (white tea) from Heng Ru Feng Tea Factory in Menghai, Yunnan. I purchased this tea from producer Wei Feng whom I spoke about in my previous post about Menghai.[1] This is a really wonderful white tea!

Wow, tasting this again reminds me why I bought 500g of this! It smells of honeysuckle when brewed and tastes amazing. I will be aging some of this so will try again each year to see if / how it matures. By far, this is the loveliest white tea I’ve ever had.

Flavour: mild, sweet, with a full-mouth feel. The superb flavour lingers in the mouth.

Liquor: pale gold (2nd infusion), clear, smells of honeysuckle and sweet peas

Wet leaves: buds and bud with one leaf with very green colour retained.

I purchased a significant amount of this white tea to enjoy and also age, but aslo as presents for my staff and friends - as quality white tea is not easy to obtain in Canada. I also used this as one of the samples in a Gong Fu Cha presentation at Alberta Wilderness Association in May.[2]
