Finally, the Graeco-Roman Museum

I’ve been to Alexandria numerous times over the years, but this museum was always under renovation. The Egyptians have done an amazing job with the new displays. I highly recommend a visit to this museum when in Alexandria.⭐ This museum houses objects primarily from the Hellenistic and Roman periods that were found throughout Egypt.

I just wanted to share some of the incredible pieces housed in this museum. I have many more photographs (over 300) from this museum, if you are looking for something specific.

Naukratis Stele

Decree of Nectanebo I, 30th Dynasty [1]

A Statue of a Ptolemaic Queen in Isis Attire

Ptolemaic Period, 2nd Century BC, black granite

This basalt statue of the Apis Bull (below) just blew me away. I can’t express how beautifully carved this massive statue is.

Basalt Statue of Apis, 130 AD, Sarapeion Temple

Torso of female figure

Late V to early II century BC, white marble, Alexandria (East Port/Mazarita)

A large display of terracotta Roman amphora

Let me just say that if you go to Alexandria, take time to visit this incredible museum. There are lots of sites to see in the port city, all of them are pretty spectacular, but if you have a penchant for the Hellenistic or Roman periods of history, this museum will not disappoint!
